Raising £800 for Christ Church Night Shelter for the Homeless
The excellent Rushley Singers from Hest Bank
performing at OTS V on 6th May 2011.
“Over the Sands” is an organization which is attempting to revive, at least, the spirit of the Morecambe Choirs Festival, which was a favourite of Edward Elgar and which had its heyday during the first half of the 20th century.
It has NOW raised some £5,100 for charities since its inception at the end of 2006.
“Over the Sands” presents four choirs of different styles and traditions annually at one venue in the February of each year; ensuring participation of a school singing group or choir.
This Year’s concert was a little later in the year on 6th May 2011, but still at Central Methodists’ Church, Green Street, Morecambe, which was one of the choral venues at the time that the Morecambe Choral Festival was at its height, so we think it’s a good thing to stay permanently with this venue. After all, it was a Morecambe festival!
The four choirs from North Lancashire and South Cumbria illustrated the rich diversity of the active choral tradition in the North-West.
